15th Jan 20167

From Martin Wilcox. The day dawned clear and bright; gratifying, since I had cleared my diary and signed-up on the strength of the BBC long range weather forecast on the 5th !. Safely at Camphill and top of the flying list, I found myself strapping-in to JRJ in the company of MikeArmstrong and rotating into the cobalt blue – all before 10:15. The west edge took us to 1100 feet, before cobbly wave to the north took us on and up to 1550 feet for my first soaring flight since the 25th November. Later, others did even better: the shortest flight of the day was 45 minutes, when snow showers finally stopped play at 15:30; Mike and Dave Spencer made it to the dizzy heights of 3,000 feet QFE; and between the nine of us, we posted 12 hours and 3 minutes of flying time. Fridays don’t get much better than this.  If you were one of those that didn’t take a chance on the weather – thank you for the extra stick time that your decision gave me!  But next time, it could be you…
