A bonus day for club gliders! The day had almost been given up on because of high winds in the morning with wave effects that resulted in the west edge windsock indicating strong west wind and the launch point wind sock showing an east wind!! But by about 2.30 things had quietened down somewhat. With the enthusiasm of those still on site, out came two club Puchaczs and two K18’s. The wave was still very much available, boosting thermal strength to 8 knots or more at times. Two flights reached the airway base at FL65, another had a good tour round the locality (the dams, Bakewell) at up to 5.5k. We flew only 7 launches but clocked over 6 hours.
